Ibadan volunteers hub today 14th of July had her first physical meetup at the Primacy Edge 15a Adebajo street, Kongi new Bodija, Ibadan with the theme; Strategic Volunteering in the 21st century. The hangout which marked the five months of the existence of the hub had in attendance old and new members with speakers including her matron and patron.
It should be recalled that the hub was born out of the idea of the young and vision driven final year student of the department of Guidance and Counselling of the University of Ibadan; Ms. Chinenye Nzom. She delivered the welcome address noting the contributions of the patron, matron and members of the hub for their unflinching support to ensuring a formidable brand is built.
Speakers at the event included,Mrs Ibiyemi Ifaturoti, Mr Kizito Okorowu, Arch. Emmanuel, Ms Tobi Bello, Mentor Sanmi Adebunmi, Mrs Oyenike Adeleke. They all spoke on issues surrounding volunteering in the 21st century, the need to develop skills relevant for the future and overcoming addictions as volunteers.
Notably among other sessions was the session when volunteers were recognised for their commitment to the hub. Recognised volunteers included Lade Falobi, Sunday Obiano, Jessica Mensah, Esther Ogunleye, Gloria Oladeji, Olumide Adaramoye, Ayooluwa Okunjolu, Anuoluwapo Akinsola, Martins Oloyede, and Blessing Alasa. The recognition according to Chinenye, is a way of motivating volunteers to continue to give their best.
Lastly, attendees were entertained by the delectable comperes; Hadassah and Jahworthy. It was indeed a wonderful and impacting moment. The question on the lips of everyone is; Can we be having this every month?
